Redistricting and Gerrymandering

Picture

In Today's class we will be looking into the districts that members of the House of Representatives represent, how they are selected, and the reasons why they change over time.

We will begin by reading pages 124-127 in the textbook as an introduction to the concepts and history.

We will then watch segments of the film Gerrymandering to see examples of gerrymandering and get a more critical view of the issues.

Class will close with each group holding its own discussion on the topics. The discussion will be monitored and count towards the day's participation grade.

To assist with note taking and the discussion, you will use this Note Organizer. You will also find discussion questions on the back to help guide your group's discussion.
