How A Bill Becomes a Law
Has the 113th Congress failed to do its job?
A Day: January 23rd
B Day: January 24th

For today's lesson, we will be looking at how a bill becomes a law and considering the question "Has the 113th Congress failed to do its job?"

Throughout the lesson, we will be working with this note handout, which will be collected at the end of class.

We will begin by watching and reacting to the CBS News clip to the right.

Following the video, we will transition into a short guided lecture on the process of a bill becoming a law using this Prezi.

Following the lecture, we will conduct a simulation to further familiarize ourselves with the process of passing a law. You will work to create a law based on the issue you have selected for your issue project.

Following the simulation, we will read and discuss an excerpt from How a Bill Really Becomes a Law. This will be followed by reading an excerpt from Why Congress is More Productive than you think.

The class will close by writing a short paragraph that answers the essential question for today - has the 113th Congress failed to do its job?
